Business Cards (Nita)
We had two-sided business cards printed, leaving a space for board members to write in their names and contact information. They were passed out to board members.
Treasurer’s Report (Sheila)
We have a $50 outstanding check from 2020. We need to contact the party and void/reissue or void/donate funds. Nita and Marlene will be meeting with the party this week and will advise.
We have a Sept. 30 cash balance of $34,357.20. It was suggested to move a portion of our funds to a bank CD account for a term of around 1 year to earn interest. A motion was made and unanimously approved for the treasurer to inquire about rates and terms at our bank, and if acceptable to her, transfer $10,000 into a CD. Additional funds will be moved to a CD at a later date in order to stagger the maturity dates.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to pay $100 to the Museum of the Albemarle to reserve its classroom for Feb. 18, 2023 to hold the tree giveaway and workshop.
EC Chamber of Commerce Membership
Our membership in the EC Chamber of Commerce expires in November. The cost is $300 per year. After some discussion, a motion was made not to renew. It did not pass. Following the failure of the motion, a motion was made to renew the membership. The motion to renew passed on a split vote.
Student Education Programs
A motion was made and was unanimously approved to proceed with our education initiatives as presented in the general meeting.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to move $500 from the general fund to Student Education Programs for the purchase of student water testing kits and supplies.
The board agreed to seek grant funding from Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership and Pasquotank Soil & Water Conservation District to help support our student education programs.
The next board meeting will be held Nov. 7 at the Pasquotank County Library following the general meeting.
