Welcome & Introductions
Nita welcomed members and guests and invited everyone to introduce themselves.
Nita thanked the board, GSG members, volunteers, and guests for their support during her tenure as GSG Chair. Nita will remain on the Board of Directors and will continue to lead several upcoming and ongoing efforts.
Nomination and Election of 2025 Executive Committee
Nita reported the Nominating Committee nominated the following officers for 2025: Marlene Greer, Chair; Misti Rewis, Vice Chair; Woody Garthwaite, Treasurer; Sue Miller, Secretary. All nominees were approved unanimously.
Membership Chair and Approval of 2025 Board of Directors
Marlene reported Annette Garthwaite was appointed and accepted the position of Membership Chair.
Marlene presented the slate of board members for 2025. The board members as presented were approved unanimously.

2025 Proposed Budget
Woody presented the proposed 2025 budget. A vote on the budget will take place at the February board meeting.
Programs and Volunteers
Marlene introduced the new Volunteer page on our website. The page lists our various programs and names the leader, volunteers, and what’s expected of volunteers for each program. This is where a member would go to sign up to volunteer for and be part of a GSG project. Nita, Marlene, and Rodney presented some of the projects they are heading up and provided status updates.

Saturday, Jan. 18, 10am-Noon. Community litter cleanup, First Christian Church, 800 Beech St., Elizabeth City. All welcome to participate.
Friday, Feb. 14, 9-11am. Plant A Valentine tree giveaway, EC/Pasquotank Senior Center, 215 S. Water St.
Friday, Feb. 14, 2-4pm. Plant A Valentine tree giveaway, Camden County Library, 118 NC Hwy 343 N, Camden
Saturday, Feb. 15, 9-11am, Plant a Valentine tree giveaway, Pasquotank County Library, 100 E. Colonial Ave., Elizabeth City, NC
Feb. 10-12 (Exact day and time TBD) – Tree planting program, Elizabeth City Boys & Girls Club & Central Elementary School
Saturday, March 1, 9-11am – Pre-Marathon Downtown Litter Cleanup. Meet at Waterfront Park. No need to sign up. Just show up and you will be given supplies and assigned a location.
Tuesday, April 22, 9am-2pm – Earth Day at the Trail student outdoor environmental education
Other Business
A member asked if we ever did anything on invasive species. He mentioned invasive Blue Catfish are in our local waterways. He would like to get the word out to the fishing community to NOT put the Blue Catfish back into the waterways when caught but to keep or destroy them.
