The Chowan Edenton Environmental Group (CEEG) understands the importance of ecosystem balance and we value the pristine quality of our local rivers and streams. The CEEG works closely with University researchers, local agencies and local government to provide the community with current knowledge regarding changes in our environment through educational programming and direct citizen science effort. We partner with scientists to study the effects of ecosystem challenges (such as the blue-green algal blooms) through local water quality monitoring as a most important step toward finding appropriate ways to restore our waterways to their natural balance. The Chowan Edenton Environmental Group loves our waterways and we want to preserve their beauty for future generations!

Our beautiful Little River is suffering from the algal blooms which close the river to commercial and recreational fishing, crabbing, swimming, boating, and water sports. Wildlife are threatened. We need urgent action and government support.
