We recently moved to a house on the water to enjoy all that the Albemarle region has to offer. It has saddened us to see the algae blooms in our backyard this summer and to not be able to enjoy nature’s best offerings as a family. Please help clean our rivers so both recreation and industry alike are able to thrive.

Very concerned. We have enjoyed swimming in the Pasquotank river for 45 years but this year we are avoiding it. It looks terrible and I am sure it is not safe.

In my 30+ years of living here and enjoying these waters, I have never seen them covered in algae bloom like they are now. If we don’t begin passing legislation to clean these waterways, the stench of dead fish will be in the air all over eastern NC.

We swim in these waters. We canoe in these waters. We love the wildlife we see beside these waters. This amazing natural resource cannot stand up to the way we are treating it. For the future of North Carolina's rivers and waterways and our own health, please, please take the necessary measures to ensure they are not being damaged.
